When Corcovado National Park is fully booked or you want to do something different —or for travelers seeking a wilder,
less- visited corner of the Osa Peninsula—this tour offers an unforgettable adventure. It’s perfect for active nature
lovers eager to explore authentic rainforest landscapes, encounter rich wildlife, and experience traditional rural life.
Schedule: We begin early, departing from Puerto Jiménez at 6:00 a.m. The first part of the day is a wildlife safari: the drive itself becomes part of the adventure. Instead of rushing, we take it slowly trying to find some wanted animals before the 1 stop, making frequent stops along the way to observe monkeys, macaws, toucans, and other animals as we pass through different habitats—from pastures and secondary forests.
Matapalo Waterfall hike: The first stop is in Matapalo area, we will park at the main road and head towards Matapalo Waterfall, on the way you will see pristine beaches and a tone of other wildlife. Eventually you will get to the waterfall, an ideal spot to cool off and connect deeply with nature and to enjoy the nice view for some minutes. This trail features majestic giant trees, lianas, orchids, and clear forest streams
Traditional Lunch & Return: Upon arrival at Rancho Piro, in a traditional campesino-style homestead surrounded by pristine jungle, a home-cooked lunch prepared on a wood-fired stove, highlighting local flavors and ingredients will wait for you. After a relaxing meal and a bit of time to unwind, we’ll begin our journey back to Puerto Jiménez in the afternoon.
