Carbonera Bird Watching

A Relaxed Morning Exploring the Wildlife of the Osa Peninsula

Looking for an easy and enjoyable way to start your day while discovering some of the incredible wildlife of the Osa Peninsula?

Our Carbonera Bird Watching Tour is a relaxed morning adventure for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike, offering great opportunities to observe local wildlife, capture beautiful photos and enjoy a pleasant morning surrounded by nature — without committing to a full-day tour.

Our adventure begins at 5:30 am as we head toward the Carbonera area, just a short distance from Puerto Jiménez. We’ll explore different birding spots and habitats throughout the morning, searching for some of the remarkable birdlife that makes the Osa Peninsula such a special destination for birdwatching.

Toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots, hawks, trogons, cotingas, kingfishers and many other species may be encountered along the way. Your guide will provide a spotting scope for closer observation and great photo opportunities, and if you have your own binoculars, we highly recommend bringing them along.

Beyond spotting and photographing birds, your guide will share insights about the species we encounter, their behavior and the habitats around us. And while birds are the stars of the morning, there is always a chance of encountering other wildlife along the way.

This is an easy and relaxed experience with no strenuous hiking required, making it suitable for virtually everyone. We’ll finish at around 9:00–9:30 am, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your day.
