Corcovado Overnight: Sirena by Boat

Two Days and One night at Sirena Ranger Station -
Boat in & Boat out

Rainforest exploration at it’s finest.

Want to spend more time exploring the heart of Corcovado without taking on a long and demanding hike?

Our 2-day, 1-night adventure to Sirena Ranger Station gives you more time to explore one of the most wildlife-rich areas of Corcovado National Park. Traveling by boat both ways, you’ll experience the rainforest at different times of the day, including the early morning hours when the forest comes alive. With several guided walks, comfortable breaks and an overnight stay at the ranger station, this tour offers a deeper and more immersive experience while remaining suitable for a wide range of travelers. Designed for travelers of different ages and fitness levels, it allows more people to experience one of the most biodiverse places on Earth without requiring a long-distance hike.

Day 1: Delve into Rainforest Magic

Begin your adventure by choosing your starting point: Puerto Jiménez or Drake Bay. If departing from Puerto Jiménez, we’ll meet at the public pier at 5:30 am. If departing from Drake Bay, you’ll board the boat at Playa Agujitas. During the journey to Corcovado National Park, enjoy the beautiful morning scenery and keep an eye out for marine wildlife such as dolphins, sea turtles, seabirds and, during whale season, even humpback whales.

Upon arriving at Sirena, prepare for a wet landing and follow your guide’s instructions. After completing the registration process at the ranger station, you’ll leave your overnight belongings there and get ready for the adventure. Since nature never rests, we’ll begin exploring the surrounding trails right away, searching for the extraordinary flora and fauna that make this area so special. Around lunchtime, we’ll return to the station for a meal and some time to rest.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll head out for another guided walk, offering a new opportunity to explore Sirena’s trails and observe wildlife as the conditions begin to change. We’ll return to the station no later than 6:00 pm for dinner and a well-earned night’s rest, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 2: A Symphony of Nature’s Wonders

The second day begins around 5:00 am with an early morning walk, offering an opportunity to experience the rainforest as it awakens. During these “quieter” hours, wildlife is often more active, and the sounds of the forest create a completely different atmosphere. After about two hours of exploration, we’ll return to the ranger station for breakfast and a short rest.

After breakfast, once everyone is ready, we’ll head out for one final guided walk, exploring Sirena’s trails and searching for new wildlife encounters. Every walk brings different possibilities, making this a final opportunity to enjoy the extraordinary biodiversity surrounding the station.

At around 11:30 am, we’ll return to the station to rest, collect our belongings and prepare for departure. Around noon, we’ll say goodbye to Sirena and head to the landing area to board the boat back to Puerto Jiménez or Drake Bay, taking with us the memories of two unforgettable days in the heart of Corcovado.
